Looking for where to level up? This guide is about upgrading gear. The level 1 to 200 leveling route is in Where to level up in Cabal Online.
In Cabal Online level matters, but gear decides. Two characters of the same level can deal three times the damage of each other just because of the upgrade of their weapons and armor. This guide explains the three pillars of upgrading, Upgrade Core, Force Core and Alz, with the names as they appear on Cabal Latino, and how to invest without throwing money away.
Upgrade Core: raising the upgrade level (+1, +2…)
Upgrade Cores raise the upgrade level of an item: a +5 greatsword hits harder than a +3 one. They come in grades (Low, Medium, High, Highest) and each item grade requires a matching core grade. You use them from the inventory: right-click the core, then the item.
- The first levels are safe. From a certain point the upgrade can fail: the item drops a level or the core is lost. Do not do it on your only weapon without a spare.
- Prioritize the weapon: it is the upgrade you notice most. Then the suit (chest) and the helmet.
- Cores drop from dungeon monsters and bosses and are bought from other players; on the Senillinea map even the Highest-grade ones drop.
Force Core: slot options
Force Cores do not raise the +; they add an option to a slotted item: critical rate, critical damage, attack, HP… A weapon with slots and good options is worth more than the same weapon with a higher upgrade level. Slotted items are recognizable in the description, and with Slot Extenders (one of the rarest drops in the game) you can add a slot to an item that has none.
Alz: where it comes from and what to spend it on
Alz is Cabal's currency. It comes from monsters, quests, selling what you do not use and Nation War rewards. The most profitable sources per hour:
- Main quests up to level 100: they pay far more than grinding at the same level.
- Solo dungeons at level 110 (Panic Cave, Steamer Crazy, Catacomb Frost, Lava Hellfire): drops that sell well and nothing to share.
- Dungeon entry items: if they drop and you do not use them, other players pay for them.
- Cores and Slot Extenders: the rare drops that sustain the economy. Check each dungeon page to see where they drop.
What to spend it on, in order: a mount (it saves you time in everything), the weapon of your level with good options, potions, and only then risky upgrades.
Mistakes that empty your wallet
- Upgrading gear you will replace in ten levels. Up to 100, quest gear is enough.
- Buying from the NPC shop what other players sell cheaper (and the reverse: selling to the NPC what is worth money on the market).
- Using cores of the wrong grade: check the item grade first.
- Spending all your Alz at once: without potions and entry items you cannot farm anything.
With your gear in order, the next step is getting the most out of it: learn to do combos and use Battle Mode.
