Oh, hi!
More fighters seem to come see me nowadays for some reason. Ha-ha!
What brings you to this place fighter?
- Do you know anything about the Monster of the Red Lake?
Whew! Even you're talking about the story, fighter. Ha-ha!
Actually, I was taken aback when someone first asked me if I know anything about the Monster of the Red Lake, but I'm getting used to it now.
Actually, people used to tell me over and over again when I was a kid that I shouldn't talk about this to anyone...But I do try to tell those who come to see me what I know.
- Would you tell me about the Monster of the Red Lake too?
It was a long, long time ago.
Unlike me, my Grandfather was a brave fighter.
My Grandfather traveled all over Nevareth regardless of all the dangerous monsters. But then one day, when he went to the land near the Dusk Lake over the Mountain Engriff, he had experienced something very strange he told me.
- Something strange?
Yes, yes. Something very, very strange.
He saw a humongous and blindingly bright monster wandering over the lake.
My Grandfather felt challenged, and when he was about to draw out his sword and charge at the monster...
He saw the monster's eyes. They were very sad, pitiful, and burning with rage! My Grandfather told me that for some reason, he dropped his sword when he saw the monster's eyes.
- So some mysterious power must have moved your grandfather's heart.
Yes, I think that's what happened.
So my Grandfather stared at the monster absent-mindedly for a long while. When he came to, the monster was nowhere to be seen and only a number of small eggs were around him.
And when he took a closer look at them, he saw that the eggs contained a scroll. He said he just left them there and left the lake because he had a bad feeling about them...But he regretted not opening them until he drew his last breath in his deathbed.
- He regretted it?
He sure did.
If the monster was evil like any other monster, my Grandfather should have been killed on the spot. If that's what happened, I wouldn't be here, would I?
Anyway, it was only after when he returned home that he came to the realization that the notes inside the eggs contained a message that the monster wanted to let the world to know, and he regretted not bringing the eggs.
- But why did he keep this story a secret?
Well, I think my Grandfather was worried that people would hurt the monster if the rumor on the monster spread in Nevareth.
The monster certainly wasn't the type of monster that attacked people for no reason.
That's as far as I know.
- Okay. Thank you for telling me the story. (completes the quest)
