Turn-in: Cox (Warehouse Keeper)
Oh, my back is killing me!
It feels like I'm getting old by the day.
Time flies, and my body is not as good as before...I wonder if my body will last until I die.
I might have to replace some of my body parts with machines. Whew!
So, what brings you here?
- I want to learn about the Historic Book of Machine Civilization.
The Historic Book of Machine Civilization?
Oh, you must be talking about the Historical Book of Machine Civilization!
For some strange reason, many people are asking me about it. Is it worth more money now? Hmm...I shouldn't have sold it at such a low price then. Hahahahaha!
- Did you have the historical book?
Hahaha! Well, it didn't really belong to me...A traveler passing through this place left it at my warehouse for safekeeping.
But the thing is that the stranger didn't come back even after 10 years. He didn't pay the storage fee either.
I couldn't keep it forever either, so I sold it to a paddler who was passing by here at the price just high enough to cover the storage fee.
But before I sold it, I read the Historical Book of Machine Civilization, and it was all fiction.
- What was the story about?
It said something like the machines that are no more than just chunks of metal used to roam the earth even before the human civilization.
The machine civilization was so advanced that it could even build a kingdom and government, but then there was a civil war. I can't remember it correctly, but it sounded like there was an internal conflict surrounding some sort of Energy Chip.
The machine civilization fell because of the internal conflict, and a handful of machines that survived were absorbed into the human civilization.
Is it fiction or not? Hahaha!
- Well...It could be true.
Oh, c'mon!
Are you trying to say that the metal monsters over there have a longer history than ours? And they were advanced enough to build a kingdom and government? Nonsense! They're not even humans you know! Hahaha!
I'm sure it was a novel written by someone. Ha-ha! Most of Nevarethians like me are too realistic to believe a story like that. Ha-ha!
Don't you worry about some fiction, and just do your quests.
- Hmmm...I'll leave you alone now. (completes the quest)
