Turn-in: Tekki (Guard)

Oh, why do I have so many visitors today?

My tongue became swollen after talking all day long, and I can't even close my mouth.

What do you want from me?

  • I want to learn about the Tragedy of Destruction.

Whew! Again?

Do you know how many times I've told the same story today? Whew! But then again, I can't say no to you when I told the story to everyone else...Whew! I have no choice then.

The Tragedy of Destruction is a story of a human who lost his life due to the conflict of machine monsters that tried to conquer the ancient world.

You know who the ancient mechanical scientist Grem, don't you?

  • I think I have heard of him.

Okay. He poured his heart and soul into mechanical science because of his son who couldn't walk after an unfortunate accident. He tried to make his son walk and run again.

After many twists and turns, he was finally able to add a pair of mechanical legs made of hard metal to his son.

And when his son stood up on his own for the first time in more than ten years, he was so happy that he cried like a baby.

But...

  • But?

All the experiments he did for his son brought results that he never anticipated.

In the process of an experiment, the machine monsters were implanted with human cells, and they decided to conquer humans by joining hands with other machines. To achieve their goal, they stole the Energy Chip that Dr. Grem made.

With the Energy Chip that endlessly produces mechanical energy, the machines could be instantly reassembled right after being destroyed. So it was like obtaining nearly infinite energy.

  • So did they get the Energy Chip?

Yup! The machines were able to get their hands on the Energy Chip as they wanted, but the Energy Chip was like source of life to Dr. Grem's son.

It's because it required tremendous amount of artificial energy until the fusion of human cells and machine parts is complete. That's the reason why Dr. Grem made the Energy Chip in the first place.

So after the machines took the Energy Chip, Dr. Grem's son couldn't overcome the heterogeneity of the mechanical cells deeply imbedded in his body and died.

  • Oh boy.

He was really unfortunate. He tried so hard for his son, but his son died at the end, and the research he's started in order to save his son brought about a war massive enough to change the destiny of the human race forever.

It really is a Tragedy, don't you think?

  • I think it is...Hmm... (completes the quest)
