  1. The independent colony Port Lux has received a report from wandering adventurers. What is the report about? Let's keep listening to the officer until the end..

  2. The reporters as well as the discoverers of the new island introduced themselves simply as wandering adventurers. The Port Lux Officer has given you a compass made of an ore which they brought from the new island. Supposedly that compass leads the ship of adventurers to the hidden island.

Dialogue

Offer: Morison (Officer)

Hi, long time no see. I thought you've forgotten about our colony. Come by more often, will you? Haha.

I was actually looking for you; I've been recruiting members for an expedition because I've received a strange report.

Since Nevareth is split into Capella and Procyon Confederations, we at this colony has declared neutral and independant from their influences.

That must be why people find us for matters that might cause confederation disputes. This reporter is among them.

  • Please tell me more about the report.
  • I'll come back next time.

According to the report receptionist, the reporters are two male adventurers. One is old and the other young.

They introduced themselves as travelers of Nevareth, and didn't want to reveal their faces somehow.

They must have a secret. Well, they don't want to talk about it, then we should respect their privacy.

Anyways, they reported about an island that they came across.

  • Continue (accepts the quest)

That island is located near this Port Lux.

It's actually in the sea route, but no one knew its existence because it's surrounded by a strange magnetic field.

The reporters accidentally found the island following a mysterious green mineral that was washed ashore. Basically, the mineral acted as 'a compass'.

  • With the mineral, I can find the island too.

That's right. The reporters have brought us a nice bit of the mineral from the island.

Thanks to them; we were able to create a compass for a first expedition team.

For your information, that mineral works as a compass only in a large quantity.

Andonce the mineral is brought back to the island, it loses its magnetic property and becomes worthless. Yes, we've found out about this through a process of trial and error.

  • Then we can't make many compasses at a time.

Not only that, the compasses cannot be reused; expedition of the island is impossible unless we continue supplying the minerals.

Fortunately, someone solved the problem for us: Heil. He left Sage Tower, and is now working as an independant researcher. And yes, he's still fastidious. Haha.

I don't know where he heard it, but he came to this colony and offered his mass copy service of the mineral.

  • It's good to hear about Mr. Heil.

I know; he's a type of person that makes you annoyed but curious about him when he's not around. Haha.

He named the copied compass 'Lost Island Compass,' and then took most of it with him except a few.

He said, 'I don't want to see one confederation monopolizing on the compass.'

'I'm going to throw them everywhere in Nevareth, so they can find their way to true owners who deserve to explore the island.'

God, he's something, isn't he? Haha.

  • Can you tell me more about the island?

The reporters and first expedition team couldn't advence further than the entrance of the island because the island is infested by monsters.

They said the monsters appeared to be members of Mutant Clan, and the island was surrounded by 'ominous energy like a haunted place'.

I assume there are more than mutant creatures in the island, but we'll have to wait and see.

  • So, the expedition failed.

Yes, that's true.

The first expedition members were attacked by ferosious mutant creatures which they've never seen anywhere in Nevareth. They barely escaped from the monsters with help from an invisible power that helped them to warp outside.

I don't know if the power has something to do with vindictive energy surrounding the island, but it sounds like someone who helps adventurers lost in the island.

Say, how'd you like to join our expedition?

  • Sure thing.
  • That place sounds too dangerous.

Thank you for accepting my offer.

Let me clarify this first: the report about the island and the mineral are sole properties of Independant Colony Port Lux, not of either confederation.

That means Port Lux will share the ownership of anything--perhaps legacy of the Honorable Age--found from the island with the confederations.

We accept the confederation members to join this expedition, but we'll not involve in any possible political disputes happening between members of the two confederations.

  • I got it.

Oh... I see.

I understand you're hesitant to join us because nothing about the island has been revealed yet and it sounds dangerous.

I respect your decision. But if you change your mind, feel free to come back. I'll keep a couple of Compasses for you.

  • Thank you for your understanding.

Based on your capability and reputation, you'll make a good explorer.

I'll give you Mr. Heil's Lost Island Compass. Bring it to a ship located at the far south of Port Lux near Lava Cave.

We at this colony has named the island Forbidden Island. It's just for convenience's sake since no one knows anything about the island.

Now go. And good luck.

  • You have received the compass of the 'Forbidden Island' from the officer. (completes the quest)
