Oh, it's been a while since I last saw you. You look like you come to this place often. Are you going here and there to listen to the story about the ice in the Ice Cave?
- Did you hear anything about the Curse of Ice?
The Curse of Ice?
Of course I did!
You know the Ice Cave in the Ice Mountain over there? I'm talking about the story that a frozen corpse found in the place came back to life after being thawed over a bonfire for over 100 days.
What's more interesting is what he told the people there. It looks like he fell in love with the spirit of the woman who killed herself in the cave. It's quite surprising. Ha-ha!
- How can you fall in love with a spirit?
Well, here is the thing.
I felt really sorry for the spirit too.
The spirit told him why she committed suicide in the cave. She was trying to marry a man her father didn't like, and the man was sold as a slave and she was locked up in the cave as a punishment.
Even while she was in the cave, she only thought about her man...But then her father came to the cave and told her that the man she loves is no longer alive, and he told her this so she would give up.
- So he lied to his daughter to make her listen to him, right?
That's right. But little did her father know that she would kill herself, saying that she'd rather go after the man she loves.
And her spiteful soul couldn't leave the cave and stayed there for a very long time.
It's because she learned that the man was still alive only after she was dead, and she's been waiting for him ever since. And she shows up whenever she hears someone coming, thinking that it could be her lover.
- The people who saw the spirit must have been scared.
What do you think?
Those who got scared out of their wits lost their footing and fell down the mountain or got a heart attack. Anyway, they died one way or another...
And those who made it out of there alive stopped going there altogether, saying that a spiteful spirit had cast a curse on the cave. That's how she's been staying for a long long time without even hearing a word from her man and not being able to send a message to him either.
Then one day, she met the man who got trapped inside the cave on the day of the Great Destruction, and she told him everything.
- So that's what happened.
Although she's just a spirit, her sad story must have caught the man's attention and made him want to protect her as a man.
Anyway, a spiteful soul that casts the Curse of Ice on people became a lovely thing for the man.
Anyhow, they said he's still waiting for the spirit in the cave without moving an inch. I wonder if he met the spirit yet.
